The Power of the Right Fit

Fall 2018 I began college as a student athlete at Rowan University. After getting adjusted to the busy lacrosse and school schedule I began my career in Sports Communication. I was grateful to have internships at all different levels of sport from youth to college to professional. I knew I loved playing and being involved in sports of any level and was eager to push myself the four years I was in school to get myself to a point where I could have my dream career in the sports industry.

The last week of preseason my sophomore year, a few days before our first scheduled scrimmage, I fell down at practice. For me to go down that hard without contact from another player, I knew something was definitely wrong. I found out I had unfortunately torn my ACL and meniscus. This was a very hard pill for me to swallow as I had worked the hardest I ever had in my life in the weight room, conditioning, stick skills and everything needed to take my game to the next level and be a key member of the team that season.

I was heartbroken that I was not going to be able to compete with my team. I tore my ACL February 20, 2020. I went in for surgery on March 12, 2020, thinking that in a week I would be back at school rehabbing with our athletic trainers. Then as everyone knows now, the world shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic. There was so much uncertainty with everything in the world, and as an athlete with my first injury, first surgery, sent home to my parents house, and no ideas on when I was going to feel any sense of normalcy or be pain free, I was really struggling mentally and physically.

Since the world was in a pandemic and I was in my home town in North Jersey, I started my rehab at a chain physical therapy facility in my town. As I was beginning to get back to more complex activities, I was not getting the level of intensity and care that I needed to get back to collegiate level lacrosse. I was still in pain and lacking some mobility I should have had at that point. I was looking for an answer so I decided to move back to Glassboro and find somewhere new to finish my physical therapy.

I had seen my friend on Rowan’s track team repost something on Instagram from Trifecta and it looked like a place that could be helpful, so I looked them up and gave them a call. From the first phone call to my very last visit, my experience was unmatched. I never in a million years did I think I would actually enjoy the ACL recovery process and be eager to go to physical therapy. I never knew how much stronger I would be after that year, both physically and mentally. And I definitely never knew that because of this injury and rehabbing where I did, I would come out of college with a full-time job at the best place I could have imagined.

The power of the right physical therapy place is unknown unless you have experienced it yourself. As someone experiencing my first real injury, I had an idea of what I thought physical therapy was based off of what I had seen so far in my life. Finding a place that blew my perception of physical therapy out of the water was eye opening. At Trifecta they care for you as a patient, and then continue to care and support you once you finish your rehab. They made what could have been the hardest year of my life, one of the best. I got back on the field my junior year feeling equal to, if not stronger than before my injury and that is something I could never thank Trifecta enough for.

The photo on the left is spring 2019, my freshman year, before ACL surgery. The photo on the right is spring 2021, my junior year after completing my rehab at Trifecta. The difference in how much stronger I got during my recovery process is very evident and I owe it to Trifecta.

I have now been lucky enough to take on the role of public relations, branding, social media, and networking for Trifecta Therapeutics since graduating from Rowan University. I am so lucky to be advocating and representing such the best, most unique, one of a kind, sports performance clinic in the area. I can honestly say that everyone on this team makes my job easy by always being the best for our patients and maintaining the highest level of individualized care.
